Introduction to Human Trafficking: Awareness, Advocacy, and Action presented by Carter Brown

Come join us on Thursday, July 25th, 2019 Joy Kelleher, LCSW, CHP, CCEP, the CEO of Carter Brown USA while she presents to us the Introduction to Human Trafficking: Awareness, Advocacy, & Action.

The Key Objectives for this meeting are:

  1. Explore common approaches and profiles of traffickers.
  2. Discern systemic challenges hindering allocation of protective resources.
  3. Explore societal trends, biases, and prejudices that may inadvertently contribute to risk.
  4. Discover strategies that practitioners and parents can utilize to raise awareness and counteract trafficking efforts.
  5. Examine challenges for recovery and treatment of targeted individuals.

Joy has over 25 years of experience globally in behavioral health. This meeting is appropriate for social workers, clinicians, and other behavioral health providers in direct service, supervisory, and leadership roles.

J’s Place will sponsoring a CARES Application Workshop on Friday, May 10th from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.  Anyone interesting in applying for the CARES Academy is encouraged to attend. J’s Place is pleased to announce 12-Step Yoga Classes being held in our fitness area.

Substance abuse disorders affect the mind, body and spirit, making yoga an exceptional adjunct to many people’s recovery.  Our experienced yoga  instructor is a person in recovery who will guide participants through yoga practices which help center and strengthen the mind and body.  Call J’s Place to learn more about class schedules.  Join us!

Our Parents’ Support Group for those who have a child with substance use disorder or those who have lost a  child to addiction meets each Tuesday’s at 6:30 pm at J’s Place.
